Each zodiac sign is traditionally associated with a different part of the body, beginning with Aries at the head and ending with Pisces at the feet. In this yoga series, we use the current astrological season and the rhythm of the moon to guide our practice. As the moon moves through the twelve signs of the zodiac during its roughly 28-day lunar cycle, each class brings focused awareness, movement, and intention to the body region connected to that sign. The lunar cycle is often seen as a reflection of natural rhythms of energy, rest, and renewal, inviting us to tune into subtle shifts in our bodies and practice with greater mindfulness. Over the course of the lunar cycle, we’ll explore and care for the whole body—honoring both cosmic movement and our own embodied experience on the mat.
Today’s Class:
Waxing Gibbous in Libra ♎︎
Our second moon in Libra for the month of April! Libra is associated with the kidneys in astrology as it’s believed to govern the body’s balance and equilibrium, key functions of the renal system, similarly to how our kidneys support our body’s ability to maintain homeostasis. When the moon moves through Libra, our yoga practice focuses on supporting strength, flexibility, and releasing tension carried in the lower back and pelvic region. Classes will include grounding postures like Tree Pose, gentle twists, and heart openers to support kidney function, release tightness in the Psoas muscle, and cultivate stability, alignment, and ease throughout the low back.
